How to Puppy Proof Your New Home & Trampoline

Keep the newest member of your family safe!
There’s just something about puppies. They’re like furry, running babies with no inhibitions and a sense of curiosity about everything as they settle into their new bodies and learn about the world. That’s why puppy proofing your home is so important. These little guys and gals are tiny enough to get into the most surprising spaces — and they’re always on the go, looking for new ways to get into trouble.
Here are some of the ways you can make your home a haven for your hairy new addition:
First step: think like a puppy
If you want to truly puppy proof your home, then visualize what life would be like as a puppy. Try to consider what areas of your house and backyard might attract the little guy and which components could pose a hazard. Figure out what might be exciting, intriguing, tasty, and dangerous to keep your pup safe!
Don’t wait to see ‘em fall: put a baby gate near the stairs
If there are stairs in your home, you might want to consider a baby gate. While they’ll eventually learn to navigate steps, new puppies are curious, clumsy, and can fall down them in no time flat. Keep the young’un safe by blocking off access.
It might come as a shock: tuck away cords
Not only do electrical cords present a tripping hazard, but they also serve as an electrocution risk to teething puppies. Dogs tend to chew on anything they can get their jaws on — so tuck and tape any loose cords to keep your pup from making any shocking discoveries. And puppy-proof your electrical outlets, while you’re at it.
Don’t take any chances: put the poisonous chemicals away
Be honest with yourself. Your new dog is going to get into anything and everything. And that means finding a safer, higher place for cleaning chemicals or other hazardous materials kept in your home, garage, or shed. Consider storing these items in a locked cabinet!
Puppy proof your trampoline
JumpSport’s trampoline safety skirt is designed to keep children and pets out from under the trampoline when it’s in use. Plus, the nets help keep your doggie from chewing on the padding around the base of the trampoline, preventing them from accidentally ingesting non-food materials (not to mention roughing up your trampoline).
Our skirt fits optimally on any JumpSport or AlleyOOP 14' round model, and it can also accommodate smaller trampolines with some overlap.
